The YMCA of the Suncoast is committed to the three following areas of focus: youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. It the Y’s mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that building healthy spirit, mind and body for all. For the youth development, the Y provides after school care where they foster the building blocks of life by teaching valuable life skills. They also provide other programs such as a children’s summer camp, various recreational youth sports and youth swimming lessons and teams.
The Y is also a place where you can work towards obtaining a balanced spirit, mind and body. They offer classes teaching you new hobbies or skills, building social connections with your neighbors, or bringing your loved ones together through their family centered activities. Some of the programs they offer include a military style boot camp, a full calendar of activities for the active older adult and a diabetes prevention program. Taking this one step further, the Y feels a social responsibility to provide support to our neighbors and opportunities for kids, adults and families to give, join or advocate in the name of stronger communities. The Y has been known to offer housing assistance to local families, scholarships to young students and provide jobs in our local community.
It was with these amazing qualities that the U.S. Family Foundation took a closer look at giving to the Y. Starting in 2013, the U.S. Family Foundation has shown a strong commitment to the YMCA of the Suncoast. The Foundation contributed $128,172.50 to their capital campaign through various donor advised funds. Since their capital campaign, the foundation has continued to support the Y through monetary donations of $20,903 in 2014, $7,731 in 2015 and $8,447 in 2016.
It was through our contributions and many, many other generous donations that the YMCA of the Suncoast was able to build a facility here in our community. The facility is located at 4127 W Norvell Bryant HWY, Lecanto, FL 34461. Our entire community can now benefit from the Y’s many programs. Rates to become a member at the new Citrus Memorial Health Foundation YMCA range from $25 – $69. Financial assistance is available to those who need it. You can enjoy the many benefits of this new prestigious facility such as the eight lane lap pool, a children’s pool (with a slide), the wellness center, the three meeting rooms, outdoor basketball courts, nature trail and many other great amenities.
