United Way: Prosperity Center

unnamedAnnually the Board of Directors offer donations to worthy charitable organization located within Citrus County, Florida. This year, we were overwhelmed by the number of worthy causes within our community. One of the most notable charitable causes in our community is the United Way of Citrus County’s Prosperity Center program.

The Prosperity Center aims to provide funding for residents of Citrus County to obtain further education, whether that is via a GED or college education. The Prosperity Center program helps members pay for the expenses associated with obtaining this education from gas cards to assistance with testing fees. Request for assistance is considered on a case-by-case basis and depends on financial needs. Assistance money is raised through grants and donations.

In 2015, the U.S. Family Foundation donated $5,000 to the Prosperity Center Program. According to Amy Meek, CEO, this funding helped 22 Citrus County adults achieve their dreams of further education. Of these 22, 17 received education from Withlacoochee Technical College and 4 from the College of Central Florida. What an amazing result!

When the time came to meet in 2016, the Board decided to provide another $5,000 donation in support of the Prosperity Center. We can’t wait to see the results of this year’s donation. At the U.S. Family Foundation, we believe in investing in our community to help provide a better quality of life for all the residents.
